Full hardware redundancy and a variety of advanced mainframe-class availability features, such as hot CPU upgrades and Dynamic Reconfiguration, provide maximum uptime. With Solaris Resource Manager[tm] software and Dynamic System Domains, this system has the flexibility to accommodate changing resource requirements where continuous uptime and availability are key.

The Sun Fire 6800 server supports from two to 24 UltraSPARC[tm] III processors, up to 192 GB of memory, 32 PCI slots or 16 hot-swappable cPCI slots, and one to four Dynamic System Domains. The system offers mainframe-class availability features, including full hardware redundancy, concurrent maintenance, online upgrades, and hot CPU upgrades. Additionally, this system offers mainframe-class resource management with Dynamic Reconfiguration and fully fault-isolated, Dynamic System Domains. The high-performance Sun Fireplane interconnect delivers 9.6 GB/sec. sustained bandwidth and has an aggregate bandwith of 67.2 GB/sec. The system is housed in its own standard-width (24-inch) data center cabinet.
